Three islands. Crystal-clear water. Your perfect Phuket escape.

The Khai Islands are Phuket's best-kept secret for a reason. Just 25 minutes by speedboat, these three micro-islands offer shallow, crystal-clear waters that are perfect for first-time snorkelers, families with children, and anyone who wants a genuinely relaxed island day without the crowds.
Choose your pace: Half Day Morning is the quietest, most peaceful option — arrive early and beat the crowds. Half Day Afternoon is a refreshing midday escape, great for those with morning plans. Full Day is the ultimate island day — after the morning guests return, you'll have nearly 4 hours of the island almost entirely to yourself.
Each island has its own character: Khai Nai (home to friendly cats and calm shallow waters), Khai Nui (the best snorkeling spot with vibrant coral and tropical fish), and Khai Nok (great for swimming and sunbathing). Jet ski and water activity rentals are available on-site for those who want extra thrills.
If you've already done the bigger-name trips — Phi Phi, James Bond Island — and want a quieter day without the tour-boat crowds, Khai is the one to add. It's also the shortest crossing of any of our tours at just 25 minutes each way, which makes it a good fit if you're short on time, traveling with young kids, or prone to seasickness on longer boat rides.
Pickup 7:30–8:45 AM. The quietest, most peaceful option — arrive early and enjoy the islands at their best.
Pickup 11:30 AM–12:45 PM. A refreshing midday escape for those with morning plans.
Travel out with the morning group, return with the afternoon group — nearly 4 hours of near-private island time. Includes Thai Set Halal lunch.
The smallest and calmest of the three, best known for the handful of friendly cats that live near the beach. The water here stays shallow well out from shore, so it's usually the first stop where families with younger kids settle in.
The pick for anyone who cares about the snorkeling itself. The reef here is livelier than at the other two islands, with better coral coverage and more fish activity close to the surface — worth the extra few minutes if your priority is what's under the water rather than the beach.
The largest of the three, with more open sand for swimming, sunbathing and simply spreading out. This is usually where jet ski and water-sport rentals are based if you want to add an activity beyond snorkeling.
Not suitable for: pregnant women, people with back or heart problems, mobility impairments, respiratory issues, wheelchair users.
What to bring: swimwear, towel, cash (for optional rentals, island fee & snacks), sunscreen, hat or cap.
Not allowed: oversized luggage, baby strollers, large bags.
Phuket's dry season (roughly November to April) gives you the calmest seas and clearest snorkeling visibility at Khai Island, and that's when the tour is busiest — another reason the Morning Half Day slot is worth booking if you want fewer people on the boat. The wet season (May to October) brings shorter, heavier showers rather than all-day rain, and the tour still runs as normal on most days — see the rain question below.
We're a locally-run Phuket operator, not a reseller — when you book through us or through one of our OTA listings, you're on the same boats and with the same guides either way. VGA has been running tours out of Phuket for more than 10 years, with over 1,000 tours a month across our full program lineup. Booking directly through this site means your questions go straight to our team on WhatsApp or Line instead of through a platform's support queue, and it's the fastest way to change a pickup detail close to your travel date.
If you want to see all three islands at a relaxed pace with the fewest other visitors around, book Full Day. If you're short on time or already have other plans that day, Half Day Morning gives you the calmest water and smallest crowds in the shortest window; Half Day Afternoon works well if you'd rather sleep in.
Yes — a snorkeling mask is included in every package. Fins and sunbeds can be rented on-site for an extra cost, paid in cash.
Yes, jet skis are available to rent directly at the island, separate from VGA's tour price. This is arranged and paid on-site, not through us.
Zone A hotels are picked up at no extra charge. Hotels in Zone B (Kamala, Cherngtalay, Laguna, Surin, Bangtao, Panwa, Laem Hin, Nai Harn, Rawai, Sai Yuan & Chalong) add 100 THB per person. More remote areas (Thalang, Ao Por, Maikhao, Naithon, Naiyang) add 600 THB per person, or up to 1,800 THB for a private transfer. Tell us your hotel when you inquire and we'll confirm the exact pickup cost and time.
Children age 4 and up are welcome. The shallow, calm water at all three islands is one of the main reasons families choose Khai over our other tours — a parent should still stay close by in the water.
The tour operates rain or shine. Phuket showers are usually short and don't stop the boat — we'll only cancel or reschedule for genuinely unsafe sea conditions, in which case you'll be offered a different date or a refund.
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts.
The Full Day lunch is a Thai Set Halal meal. Half Day options include a light breakfast (sandwiches, tea, coffee, soft drinks) rather than a full meal. If you have other dietary requirements, tell us when you inquire and we'll check with our supplier in advance.
“This trip surpassed our expectations! Free coffee, water and breakfast while we waited, the islands were beautiful, and we had enough time to explore and chill. Joe our guide was awesome and the boat was safe. Such good value for money.”
