James Bond Island & 5 Islands Full-Day Tour

Paddle into a sea cave. Cruise Phang Nga Bay. Discover 5 islands in one epic day.

⏱ Full Day, ~10–11 hrs 👥 Max 20 passengers 🌐 English, Thai

Overview

Phang Nga Bay is one of the most dramatic seascapes in the world — a maze of towering karst limestone islands rising from emerald-green water, made forever famous as the backdrop of The Man with the Golden Gun. James Bond Island (Ko Tapu) — that impossibly thin spike of rock — is its undisputed star. But this full-day tour is about far more than one famous rock.

Your day starts with a hotel pickup, then a speedboat cruise into the heart of Phang Nga Bay, visiting 5 islands, each with its own character.

Phang Nga Bay is a national marine park, so the karst islands, mangroves and hongs you'll see are protected — that's also why the trip includes a marine park fee rather than it being an optional add-on. If you've been to Phi Phi already and want a completely different landscape (limestone towers and calm bay water instead of open sea and white-sand beaches), this is the tour that delivers it.

Where You'll Go

Stop 1

James Bond Island

Walk the shores of Ko Tapu and take that legendary photo.

Stop 2

Panak Island

Step inside a hidden hong (a lagoon enclosed by karst) and navigate a series of sea caves by canoe — your guide paddles with you through narrow passages into hidden lagoons that open up into open sky. This is the stop guests talk about most afterward — the transition from dark, narrow cave to a sunlit lagoon ringed by cliffs is hard to photograph in a way that does it justice, so most people just put the camera down and take it in.

Stop 3

Ko Panyi

Phang Nga Bay's famous floating village, built on stilts over the water by a Muslim fishing community centuries ago. Lunch is served here — a chance to walk through a genuinely lived-in village rather than another beach stop.

Stop 4

Hong Island

Kayak around the dramatic island perimeter and explore the mangrove forest — keep an eye out for monitor lizards and the tangled root systems that make the mangroves here a genuinely different environment from the open bay you've been cruising through.

Stop 5

Private Beach

Your own exclusive stop to unwind, far from the crowds. The exact beach can vary by day depending on which of our boat suppliers is running the tour — all of them are quiet, uncrowded stops away from the main tourist route.

Good to Know Before You Book

Maximum 20 passengers per boat. No large luggage or suitcases permitted on the vehicle — please leave luggage at your hotel. Please respect the marine ecosystem: do not feed, touch or disturb wildlife. In case of extreme weather, the operator reserves the right to cancel — guests will be offered a reschedule or full refund.

Not suitable for: people with epilepsy, serious heart disease or medical conditions, pregnant women, persons with disabilities, elderly guests (please assess individually before booking).

What to bring: change of clothes, swimwear, towel, sunscreen, sunglasses, cap or hat, cash.

Best Time to Visit

Phang Nga Bay's water is calmest in the dry season (roughly November to April), which also gives the clearest views of the karst formations from the boat. The wet season (May to October) brings shorter afternoon showers rather than all-day rain, and Phang Nga Bay is more sheltered than the open sea crossing to Phi Phi, so it tends to run smoothly even on days when a Phi Phi trip might feel rougher.

Why Book Direct With VGA

We're a locally-run Phuket operator, not a reseller — the boat, guides and itinerary are the same whether you book here or through one of our OTA listings. VGA has been running tours out of Phuket for more than 10 years, with over 1,000 tours a month across our full program lineup, so this isn't a seasonal side business. Booking directly means your questions go straight to our team on WhatsApp or Line, which is the fastest way to confirm or adjust a pickup detail close to your travel date.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which departure time should I choose?

Both cover the same 5-island itinerary. 7:30 AM gets you to James Bond Island before it's at its busiest; 8:40 AM suits a slower morning. Hotel pickup starts about an hour before whichever time you pick.

Do I need experience to canoe through the sea caves?

No. Two guests share each canoe with an assistant paddler who does the steering through the cave passages — you just ride and enjoy it.

Is this trip suitable for kids or older travelers?

Children age 4 and up are welcome. Beyond the medical exclusions listed above (epilepsy, serious heart disease, pregnancy, disabilities), we don't have a fixed upper age cutoff — elderly guests are assessed individually rather than turned away outright.

Is the National Marine Park fee extra?

No — it's already built into your tour price (300 THB/adult, 150 THB/child equivalent). There's nothing extra to pay at the park gate.

Do you pick up from my hotel?

Base zone hotels (Kalim, Patong, Kata, Karon, Old Town, Ko Sirey) add 100 THB/person. Zone 2 (Nakalay, Kamala, Laem Hin, Sapam, Boat Lagoon) adds 200 THB/person. Zone 3 (Surin, Bangtao, Laguna) adds 400 THB/person. Tell us your hotel when you inquire and we'll confirm the cost and pickup time.

What if the weather is bad?

In case of extreme weather, we reserve the right to cancel — you'll be offered a reschedule or a full refund, not left without either.

Can I bring luggage, e.g. before a flight?

No large luggage or suitcases are permitted on the boat, so this isn't a good same-day option right before a flight if you'd need to bring check-in bags along. Leave luggage at your hotel.

What's the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before the tour starts.

Do I need to know how to swim?

This tour doesn't involve snorkeling, and life jackets are provided for the canoe and kayak stops, so strong swimming ability isn't required — though as with any boat trip, guests should be reasonably comfortable in and around water.
